[NASA is not a private company it is owned by the US Government]

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration, or better known as NASA, was founded in 1958. Since it has been founded, most United States space missions have been led by NASA, including the Apollo Moon landing. NASA and the Soviets(at the time) had been competing to go to the Moon but the Americans managed to reach there first in 1969. They have also sent space probes to other planets in the Solar System like Mars. They were also a part of the Voyager twin probes which were launched in 1977. Voyager 1 reached interstellar space on August 25, 2012, and took the farthest photo of Earth(The pale blue dot) from about 6 billion km away! To learn about the Voyager twin probes there will be a topic on them soon! NASA is probably the most well-known and successful space companies in the world.
