ALPHA CENTAURI

[NOT FINISHED]

Alpha Centauri is the closest star system to Earth. Inside Alpha Centauri are three stars named, Alpha Centauri A, Alpha Centauri B, and Proxima Centauri. Alpha Centauri A and B are the main stars and are a binary pair. Binary stars are star systems consisting of two stars orbiting around their common barycenter. (image below) The other star, Proxima Centauri, is the closest star to Earth other than the Sun.

Yes, Proxima Centauri is the closest star to Earth but it is still a whopping distance of 4.243 light years away! To put that in perspective, one light year is equivalent to about 10 trillion kilometers. If Voyager 1 was to go to Alpha Centauri, it would take 70,000 years for Voyager 1 to reach it!
